Hi everyone. I had genital warts. Did 2 times Cryotherapy, still got outbreak n each outbreak become worse. Outbreak took 3 weeks. Had one shot of HPV vaccine. But the warts still come back. Now become a big cluster under the tip of my penis head. Need to for 3rd Cryotherapy treatment which is extremely painful.

Need advice from anyone who had genital warts. How did u recover? If Dr Tan can advice will be good. Thank u

Re: Genital warts

1. Keep your immune system healthy. Don't smoke. Get enough sleep. Hydrate. Eat enough micro-nutrients. Control any chronic diseases (Especially Diabetes) very strictly.

2. If Cryotherapy does not work don't bother continuing. Try a new treatment method eg Imiquinod Cream, Laser Ablation, Surgical removal etc

3. Complete your HPV vaccine series

I am giving all the above advice assuming what you have is warts

I have seen other things like BLKs of Condyloma Lata completely misdiagnosed as warts. These require different treatments

In most cases of HPV the immune system will successfully deal with the virus and you won't get any further outbreaks.

https://www.healthline.com/health/se...es-hpv-go-away

Does HPV go away?

Depending on the type of HPV that you have, the virus can linger in your body for years. In most cases, your body can produce antibodies against the virus and clear the virus within one to two years. Most strains of HPV go away permanently without treatment.

Because of this, it isn’t uncommon to contract and clear the virus completely without ever knowing that you had it.

That's because your immune system has not got on top of things yet. Follow Dr Tan's advice and after a while the problem will go away for good.

I went dtap at novena before for cyro therapy and I enquire about getting hpv vaccine but was told once you get genital wart, there's no point with getting the vaccine. Can anyone clarify?

In any case, I went for few more cyro treatments at dsc clinic (which was much cheaper) and thankfully it hasn't flare up again since.

I would have thought that there were still benefits from the vaccine because it protects against all the strains that are usually implicated in the development of cervical cancer.

In other words it protects against strains of HPV which you have yet to catch.

That's right. I would still encourage people who have been diagnosed with HPV warts to get vaccinated against HPV.

1. Because it will protect the patient against other HPV strains.

2. There is data to show that the antibody production from a wild type HPV infection is not so robust. Vaccines have adjuvants which make the body mount a more aggressive immune response. Presumably, this will help with clearance of the infection.

3. There is also data to show that HPV vaccination reduces the rates of cervical cancer recurrence. It may be logical to extrapolate this data and assume HPV vaccination can also reduce the rate of wart recurrence.

There is no data to prove that the vaccine is effective for patients above 45. In US, insurance will not pay for the vaccine if you are above 45.

Does your warts just drop off after the third doses? I am still considering to take the vaccine since I am already in the 50s.
