Need get some help on Vietam bank account opening.

1. Can I check if foreginers without work visa and just a tourist can open a bank account in vietnam? Like for saving reasons due to higher interest.

2. Can money be remmitted out of Vietnam back to SG?

3. Which bank is better?

Need some help on attending a wedding at a high class hotel in hcm...how much Ang Bao should I give ? 1 VB says 500k or give presents, another says USD 100 -200...
They call it lixi, am I right?

it all depends on how close you are to the married couple, and do you have any future delaings with them, or do u need to impress anyone connected to the party..eg u wanan bonk the girl u going with...for example at my cousins wedding i gave 500usd..well that was from my own family...i also went to a wedding at a high class hotel, the girl who invited me was the bride, i went on a few dates with her before she got married i didnt expect to see much of her later so i gave the token 200k...i also went to a few otehr wedding as a guest of teh girl whose friend was getting married..these are decent girls without any agenda so they actually paid the ang bao..i turn up empty handed....you question to be answered more accurately need further details...or u can just do what most you guys do and blindly give the highest amount..but there isnt much difference between 500k which one person has suggested and the 100usd another suggested..why need to ask?

As far as I know the spa at that hotel is still operating but it have always been a separate operation from the KTV leh?

I am not going to repeat all the replies as this was asked quite a number of times in the HCM thread in the past but however why would you want to put your $$$ there instead of Sinkie leh??? It may look good now due to the appreciating USD but the so-called high interest rate is there because there are also much higher risks involved, for me the risks far outweighs the potential gains

There are many factors involved as what MC have stated, but if you are not too sure just use this basic rule of thumb

01) Most of the high class hotels charge at least USD250++ for a wedding table (how I know? well thats another story which I prefer not to reveal here), so if divided by 10 then minimum to put is at least 600k to 800k so as to at least cover your own seat.

02) Second factor is on how much you want to improve your "face" factor and your relationship with them, which means how much more to add on-top of the above, which is solely dependent on yourself liao.

Yes...Ang Bao is lixi...

If you can easily afford usd 100-200 then why not...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.. in SG, when I attend wedding, I usually give $100... not a fan of wedding dinners..
Didn't know in hcm, attending a wedding dinner can be so political... I wasn't thinking of anything beyond covering the cost of my seat.. ha ha... but since sniper mentioned a table at a high class hotel would cost USD$250, so if I give slightly more than USD 25, should be quite OK..not out to impress anyone, since I don't know anyone besides the couple..
