Can I check, how long the test will take and how long will the result be release?? Also, when is the rite time to go for a check?? People say the window is 3-6 months and during this period, if you have sex with other gal/guy, the result won't be correct liao., is it true??

I went to polyclinic to take a blood test and 2 weeks later the test result is back. I think there are 3 types of tests. 1 month test = window test or something, 3 month test = conclusion test and 6 months test final test.

Dear JingQiangBuDao,

Two different tests. 1) Clinical laboratory test 2) Rapid test.

The first can be done at polyclinics or any friendly neighbourhood GP. This involves drawing blood from your veins and sending it off for laboratory testing. It takes usally 7-10 days depending on which lab they use. If you can stand the agony of waiting, by all means go for this one. The charges also vary from place to place - from highly subsidised rate at govt polyclinic or pte rates with your friendly neighbourhood GP.

The second is done two ways. One at our AfA annoymous testing service centre, which happens now to run on Wed and Sat. As the demand for the test has increased so rapidly, a new day is being put into review that would mean three days in a week. The cost is pegged at S$20 subsidised by AfA otherwise would have been more expensive. Test results can be known within 20 mins and we have professional counsellors to tide you thru the ordeal of waiting. The other way is the DIY home test kits. It is not available in Singapore for sale so...
