Shenzhen Scam

Not sure if anyone had this experience but just happened to me. Initially it's pretty routine: FL chats up with Wechat. Price of RMB600 agreed on and she came to hotel. After everything, she said there is an additional fee of RMB5,000! I told her must be joking but she said it's the the people behind her asking for it and not her. She called a number and spoke to the guy and he threatened to come to hotel and cause trouble if I don't pay up. He said they do this to all customers so looks like they have been scamming a lot of people. Being in a foreign land, got no choice but had to draw from ATM. This is first such experience in China. Luckily didn't ask for RMB10K or RMB20K. Learnt a bitter lesson and tasted the ugliness of China.

this is what might happen when one engages a wechat or momo or what-not FL since there is no control.
one should count his lucky stars that it is only $$ and not the kidneys.

But then again they are targeting on people's fear Esp foreigner.coukd have not given so easily & report on authority.

Why didn't you just call your hotel reception?

And it was only the gal stating all this to you? Nobody actually came up and you actually went down to the ATM to get money? You didn't think that when you're outside already that there's not much they can do? I mean, if they're so fierce, they may as well just stand outside an ATM and collect all the money which customers withdraw - NO?

under china law
for solicting a whore the most police lock you up for 15 days max
for extortion the girl can be jailed up tp 3 years in china prison
so who has more to lose?
if you had called china police i am sure the girl would have flee for her life

Have done this before and never had problems but you are right, it's the last time I'll do this.

I didn't want to blow this as the hotel will get the police involved and I don't want to get stuck with lengthy and unfamiliar police procedures. Plus I have to fly out the next morning. I spoke to the guy over her phone and tried to negotiate telling him if there is any additional costs, he should have told me so I can decide or get prepared. But he said they do that to everyone so I realized its a well designed scam. The girl said she could even get beaten if I don't pay but for all I know, she could be in cahoots with him. I was really afraid to go down because I imagined a gang of thugs would be watching me but luckily just at the hotel lobby is an ATM. *Sigh* Just take it as a lesson.

Can you give information on this girl on how to contact her on Wechat. Her Wechat ID.
Can you gave her name, how tall, age or did you take any pictures.

Usually, you can negotiate on how much to pay in scams. They would like
$5000 but will settle for less. You could have said you only can give XXX amount and don't have the $5000.

I was blackmailed once by a BBS girl in CP after we finish the deed but she demanded another 2K from me for her gang boss. What I did was to throw her out of my room and told her to F off, minutes later a group of 3 men and the BBS girl came up to my room and knock on my door (seen through the peep hole), I immediately called front desk and minutes later a group of 8 hotel security came and told them to show them their IC and phone number and leave and never to come back again or .... the girl and his 3 idiots left quietly

The security then knock on my door and told me not to worry and call them again if there are any more issues. They have taken down all their IC particulars and phone numbers to protect the hotel guests if anything ever happened again. Also the people protecting the hotel would call them again to warn them never to appear at the hotel or else....

FYI - in the future call hotel security or front desk in such incident

Something similar happened at the Maraton Hotel in CP. This happened yrs ago. My friend picked up a BBS or KTV girl and went back to his hotel. it was after 11pm. After 15 minutes later he got a knock on his room. They kept saying room service. He went to look but the pee hole was blocked. He noticed the girl texting left and right. She wasn't too concerned about what was going on. He tried to ignore the knocking but they wouldn't go away. He then called hotel security. He continued with the girl when the knocking was gone. Paid the girl and checked if anyone was still outside. The next day he asked who was outside. Security said 4 guys quickly left when they saw them. He then checked out of his room for a different room and floor. He was thinking about completely checking out of the hotel to be safe. He believes the girl was trying to scam him with some other guys. I know this guy personally.
