Instead of properly addressing the points raised by Roy with regards to CPF, he instead chose to focus on the defamation case against himself. 2) Immature handling of the defamation case make Singapore a laughing stock and a lose-lose situation for the PAP. Why did PM Lee want Roy to propose an offer of monetary compensation? How much did he actually expect Roy to offer? $5? $5,000? or $50, 000? or more? If Roy is scheming enough, he would propose an amount that is peanuts to most high earners but relatively a huge amount to ordinary Singaporean. As it is, Roy proposed $5k, which is "derisory" to PM Lee but is actually a huge amount for most ordinary Singaporean. This places himself and PAP in a lose-lose scenario. PAP will lose a certain amount of support from ordinary Singaporean, especially when Roy speak up for them regarding CPF. Rejecting the $5k proposed by Roy and calling it "derisory" will make it worse. All these wouldn't have happen if PM Lee chose a much more straightforward way to deal with the case: Either forgive and forget or Sue Roy directly instead of having Roy to propose an amount of compensation. I fear for the PAP come 2015/2016. Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
