Comparing US immigration policy with SG’s

What the fark does Native English speaker mean?

English Language is a compulsory subject in our “O” and “A” level examinations and students need to score well before advancing in our education system.

English Language is the lingus franca of Singapore, the language of business and the language of government.

That this condition should go into the Shell job advertisement in our National Jobs Bank is a cause for concern.

Who in MOM verified and validated this Shell job advertisement? Why was “Native English Speaker” allowed to be a condition specified in the skill set requirements in the first place? Define the word “native”! Was it inserted as a job requirement in order to facilitate discriminatory hiring practices? Who in MOM sets the guidelines?

We must not allow this objectionable practice to fester. The government jobs bank is fast becoming a sick joke. Trust in it’s administration is fast losing steam.

Recently, a friend of mine was accepted in an internal job posting for a job as an engineering manager in his company’s headquarter in the U.S.

The HR administration in the Singapore branch applied for a work permit to the U.S. Immigration Department for his intended transfer to the U.S. headquarter to work.

The U.S. Immigration rejected the work permit application questioning why wasn’t an American considered for the job in the first place? What engineering skill sets that my friend has that the company cannot find in the U.S.?

He lost the opportunity for this managerial promotion because the work permit application to the U.S. was not approved.

Only in Singapore do we allow all and sundry from all over the world to pollute this tiny red dot.

MOM and MHA are responsible for all problems associated with unemployed and under-employed PMETs here.
Fair Consideration Framework is a farce. Dismiss it and kick the PAP out the next GE.

Discrimination
