I'll be direct, I hate techno, loud dance music and karaoke (doesn't matter if the singer is good or bad).
I just want to have my drink and able to talk to my girl(s) without having to shout over the music. Love the viet girls but hate the loud and bad music they play on JC road... the worst are the Blue zone and 51. The bass is so strong over there, it make me physically sick to the stomach even if I'm sitting outside at Mdm Low's. Even outside, the young bros with their souped up subarus/ hondas, can hear their ICE system and exhaust a mile away. Lets not even start with karaoke, esp at 1+am closing time, the singers all think they are alan tham or something... yah lah, maybe i'm just aurally sensitive So bros, please enlighten me: NICE chicks, NO techno, NO karaoke and sensible 80s-pop-jazz type music, where can I go to enjoy myself in JC or elsewhere? |

Seriously now, is there no pickup place in Singapore where is less noise? (Sounds like a market opportunity to me.) |

Re: Quiet bar (no techno, no karaoke)
Paramount is never quiet! well, in the afternoons perhaps. In the night time, try walking around on the outside of the building; thats where the back doors are to each of the bars... the music is so loud its nauseating!... each bar is so small but yet play music so loud!
duxton area i pass a number of times but never gone in... shall recce again... where exactly is this estee place in clarke quay? i go to attica & crazy elephant regularly but not seen this estee place... i'm more into fairer girls anyways... and viet/ prc preferred... maybe i should just wear earplugs and let my fingers do the talking... |

Also along TGP there is one called Blues Tavern, know the owner, nice lady. Same thing, Small but cosy and quiet and the girls won't bother you unless you want to talk to them but also haven't been there in awhile either. As for PRC and Viets, most of them hang around noisy areas so just taking into consideration your preferences, guess 2/3 ain't so bad...btw, think some TGP pubs are quiet and cosy but has local and malaysian waitresses you can hook up with, since you prefer fair skin..but not sure abt PRC Hope this helps |

Re: Quiet bar (no techno, no karaoke)
Get to know the gal well. Pay her some money and bring her to the places you like. This will solve the problem. There are some nice bar around that are quiet like post Bar in Fullerton, Blue Bar Bistro is closed (now news room). There are some nice lounges in the hotel. You can pay the gal some money and I am sure they are willing to go with you. Get the gals contact and ask them out and pay them some money or tips or even wait for them to knock off. 95% of dUXTON pUBS ARE kARAOKE AND rong music.

Re: Quiet bar (no techno, no karaoke)
Seriously, I really don't think Post Bar will like it when she is sitting in my lap and my hands are up her skirt. Also, variety is a spice of life.... taking a contingent of hot viet or prc to Post Bar, the staff might think they have been invaded or gone to heaven. Quite expensive an exercise just to get away from techno music and karaoke. wonder if any kopitiam have "private room" for hire.
