Thumbs up 'foreign talent' wants condo management not to put incense bins out for 7th month

'FOREIGN TALENT' WANTS CONDO MANAGEMENT NOT TO PUT INCENSE BINS OUT FOR 7TH MONTH

Post date:

Dear all,
I would like to bring to your attention the following post made by Neill Graham, a resident at one of the condominiums on the condominium residents’ facebook page (a private page accessible to all condominium residents).
One of the residents had posted on the facebook page a notice from the management office advising that residents are not supposed to do BBQ on their balconies or PES (private enclosed space) due to fire hazard and inconvenience to neighbours (see message blow).
In response, Neill Graham replied:“Could you confirm with the MO (management office) that they will not have bins out this year burning offerings during the hungry ghost festival. The smell last year was terrible, worse than my steaks. Well rules are rules as per para 63b!!”
I would like to know, has Mr Graham infringed any of our laws by saying such things against our religious practices?

Please note that he is also asking the management office not to put bins out in the condominium so as to stop us from practising our religious belief. Even HDB puts bins around HDB estates during 7th month to enable Singaporean believers to burn offerings. We have been doing this since Raffles’ times, even before the independence of Singapore!
Under the Penal Code (Cap 224), Section 298 -Uttering words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious or racial feelings of any person
298. Whoever, with deliberate intention of wounding the religious or racial feelings of any person, utters any word or makes any sound in the hearing of that person, or makes any gesture in the sight of that person, or places any object in the sight of that person, or causes any matter however represented to be seen or heard by that person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
