No LionsXII for 2016 Malaysia Super League

The LionsXII will not participate in the 2016 season of the Malaysian Super League.

A media statement on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said, “FAM executive committee decided that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the FAM and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) in 2011 (which) ended this year will not be extended.”

The LionsXII won the Malaysia Super League title in 2013, and also won the Malaysia FA Cup in May this year.

The team will play against Pahang this Saturday (28 Nov) at Jalan Besar Stadium in the quarter-final of the TM Malaysia Cup.

FAS has not yet responded to FAM’s decision.
