hi bros, never buy contraception pills from guardian before. anyone know whats the price and is it just pay and go type? heard from friend like need to wait for the doctor approval?

Just ask your gal to GP and get it......they won't ask much.......but i think only a few pills at a time........there's this clinic at lor ah soo that allow women to buy.....

Why don't you just buy the patch for your gf? It's discreet and there's not a chance in the world that she forgets about taking it.

Take a vitamin c pill and leave it on the table at 5.59am in the morning and wait til 12 afternoon then you'll have morning after pill.... Just in case it don't work......see a doctor.

Morning-after pill:

The morning-after pill — a form of emergency birth control — is used to prevent a woman from becoming pregnant after she has had unprotected vaginal intercourse. Morning-after pills are generally considered safe, but many women are unaware that they exist. Here's how the morning-after pill works.

Human conception rarely occurs immediately after intercourse. Instead, it occurs as long as several days later, after ovulation. During the time between intercourse and conception, sperm continue to travel through the fallopian tube until the egg appears. So taking emergency birth control the "morning after" isn't too late to prevent pregnancy.

The active ingredients in morning-after pills are similar to those in birth control pills, except in higher doses. Some morning-after pills contain only one hormone, progestin (Plan B), and others contain two, progestin and estrogen. Progestin prevents the sperm from reaching the egg and keeps a fertilized egg from attaching to the wall of the uterus (implantation). Estrogen stops the ovaries from releasing eggs (ovulation) that can be fertilized by sperm.

The morning-after pill is designed to be taken within 72 hours of intercourse with a second dose taken 12 hours later. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue and headache. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the morning-after pill is 80 percent effective in preventing pregnancy after a single act of unprotected sex.

In Singapore, it is normally only available with a doctor's prescription.



Birth Control/ Contraceptive pills

* The combined oral contraceptive pill contains estrogen and a progestogen, and is taken once per day.
* The progestogen only pill contains only a progestogen, and is also taken once per day.
* Ormeloxifene (also known as Centchroman) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator which is taken one to two times per week.

There are many different brands of The Pill and they come in packs of 21 or 28 pills. One pill is taken every day. The first 21 pills have a combination of synthetic estrogen and progesterone hormones. The Pill stops ovulation, preventing the ovaries from releasing eggs. The Pill also thickens cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to enter the uterus. The hormones in the Pill prevent fertilization. The last 7 pills of a 28-day pack have no hormones and are called spacer pills. The Pill is 92-99.7% effective as birth control. It does not protect against reproductive tract infections, including HIV/AIDS.

Some women may not be able to take The Pill because of the risk of serious health problems. Women who are over 35 and smoke or who have any of the following conditions should not take The Pill:

* History of heart attack or stroke
* Blood clots
* Unexplained vaginal bleeding
* Known or suspected cancer
* Known or suspected pregnancy
* Liver disease

Women who are under 35 and smoke, have migraines, gallbladder disease, hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, elective surgery, a history of blood clots, liver or heart disease may not be able to take The Pill. Your clinician or doctor can decide.

Women who use The Pill have a higher risk of heart attack and stroke. The effects of The Pill on breast cancer are still unknown. The Pill lowers a woman's chance of developing ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and pelvic inflammatory disease.

As the body adjusts to hormonal changes created by The Pill, women often experience some minor side effects, including:

* Irregular bleeding or spotting
* Nausea
* Breast tenderness
* Weight gain and/or water retention
* Spotty darkening of the skin
* Mood changes

Side effects usually disappear after 2-3 cycles.

Some doctors also prescribe certain brands of pills to help with hormonal imbalance or even acne problems in females which are normally hormonal related, e.g.; Diane35.

Pills are normally available with the doctor's prescription only too. It is also advisable to go back to the same doctor so that he/ she may monitor any side effects if any and remedy the situation in time.
